WASHINGTON, D.C.-Republican Representative Howard Coble (NC-6) was honored this week on Capitol Hill by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and presented with the Spirit of Enterprise Award for his pro-business record during the first session of the 111th Congress.
“The Chamber applauds Representative Coble for supporting the private sector and job growth through these difficult times,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “He has demonstrated great courage and we commend him.”
Eligibility for the award is based on how Members of Congress vote on key business issues, which the Chamber outlines in its annual publication How They Voted. These designated “key votes” are recorded floor votes on issues established as priorities on which the Chamber communicates its position prior to the vote. Those members of Congress who support the Chamber’s position on at least 70% of those votes receive the award.
According to the scorecard, Representative Coble maintained an 80% rating with the Chamber this year and collectively holds an 87% ranking during his tenure in Congress.
The Chamber scored Congress on 7 Senate and 15 House votes in 2009, including the economic stimulus package, legislation to promote the U.S. as a travel destination abroad, and both the House and Senate healthcare reform bills.

Congressman Howard Coble will Open A Satellite Office in Moore County
(GREENSBORO, N.C.)----U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) announced today that he decided to begin regular office hours in Moore County.
Congressman Coble said that one of his staffers will travel to Moore on the first and third Wednesdays of each month to conduct regular office hours there.
Beginning on Wednesday, July 7, Lindsay Morris will conduct congressional office hours at the new Southern Pines Police Department at 450 West Pennsylvania Avenue between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.and 3 p.m.
Morris, who normally works in the Greensboro office, will travel to Southern Pines, to be available for any constituent inquiries or service.
“We are grateful to our friends in Southern Pines for making this space available for these regular office hours,” Rep. Coble noted. “Since we do not maintain a fulltime office in Moore County, we decided to try these office hours on a regular basis to see if citizens there would like this additional service. Of course, our offices in Greensboro and Washington can also assist residents of Moore County with any requests they may have. We just thought that having a regularly-scheduled office visit would bring an additional level of service to Moore County.”
The Southern Pines office visits for this month will be July 7 and 21.
